Anderson localization from the replica formalism

We study Anderson localization in quasi--one--dimensional disordered wires within the framework of the replica σ\sigma--model. Applying a semiclassical approach (geodesic action plus Gaussian fluctuations) recently introduced within the context of supersymmetry by Lamacraft, Simons and Zirnbauer \cite{LSZ}, we compute the {\em exact} density of transmission matrix eigenvalues of superconducting wires (of symmetry class CCI.) For the unitary class of metallic systems (class AA) we are able to obtain the density function, save for its large transmission tail.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

Multi-Instanton Effects in QCD Sum Rules for the Pion

    Get PDF
Multi-instanton contributions to QCD sum rules for the pion are investigated within a framework which models the QCD vacuum as an instanton liquid. It is shown that in singular gauge the sum of planar diagrams in leading order of the 1/Nc1/N_{c} expansion provides similar results as the effective single-instanton contribution. These effects are also analysed in regular gauge. Our findings confirm that at large distances the correlator functions are more adequately described in the singular gauge rather than in the regular one.Comment: 11 pages RevTeX is use

How the recent BABAR data for P to \gamma\gamma* affect the Standard Model predictions for the rare decays P to l+l-

Measuring the lepton anomalous magnetic moments (g2)(g-2) and the rare decays of light pseudoscalar mesons into lepton pairs Pl+lP\to l^{+}l^{-} , serve as important tests of the Standard Model. To reduce the theoretical uncertainty in the standard model predictions, the data on the charge and transition form factors of the light pseudoscalar mesons play a significant role. Recently, new data on the behavior of the transition form factors PγγP\to\gamma\gamma* at large momentum transfer were supplied by the BABAR collaboration. There are several problems with the theoretical interpretation of these data: 1) An unexpectedly slow decrease of the pion transition form factor at high momenta, 2) the qualitative difference in the behavior of the pion form factor and the η\eta and η\eta^\prime form factors at high momenta, 3) the inconsistency of the measured ratio of the η\eta and η\eta^\prime form factors with the predicted one. We comment on the influence of the new BABAR data on the rare decay branchings.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figure

Charged-Lepton-Flavour Violation in Kaon Decays in Supersymmetric Theories

    Get PDF
We discuss rare kaon decays that violate charged-lepton flavour conservation in supersymmetric theories with and without R parity, in view of possible experiments using an intense proton source as envisaged for a neutrino factory. In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, such decays are generated by box diagrams involving charginos and neutralinos, but the limits from \mu -> e \gamma, \mu-e conversion and \Delta m_K constrain the branching ratios to challengingly small values. However, this is no longer the case in R-violating theories, where such decays may occur at tree level at rates close to the present experimental limits. Within this framework, we obtain bounds on products of LL\bar{E} and LQ\bar{D} operators from the experimental upper limits on K^0 -> \mu^\pm e^\mp and K^{\pm,0} -> \pi^{\pm,0} \mu^\pm e^\mp decays. We also note the possibility of like-sign lepton decays K^\pm -> \pi^\mp \ell^\pm \ell^\pm in the presence of non-zero \tilde{b}_L-\tilde{b}_R mixing. We conclude that rare kaon decays violating charged-lepton flavour conservation could be an interesting signature of R violation.Comment: 25 pages, 6 figures, Prepared for the Kaon Physics Working Group as part of the ECFA/CERN study of Neutrino Factory & Muon Storage Rings At CERN. SU(2)xSU(2) nonlocal quark model with confinement

The nonlocal version of the SU(2)xSU(2) symmetric four-quark interaction of the NJL type is considered. Each of the quark lines contains the form factors. These form factors remove the ultraviolet divergences in quark loops. The additional condition on quark mass function m(p) ensures the absence of the poles in the quark propagator(quark confinement). The constituent quark mass m(0) is expressed thought the cut-off parameter Lambda, m(0)=Lambda=340 MeV in the chiral limit. These parameters are fixed by the experimental value of the weak pion decay and allow us to describe the mass of the light scalar meson, strong decay rho -> pi pi and D/S ratio in the decay a_1 -> rho pi in satisfactory agreement with experimental data.Comment: 8 pages, 1 figure

Rare decay pi0 -> e+e-: theory confronts KTeV data

Within the dispersive approach to the amplitude of the rare decay pi0 -> e+e- the nontrivial dynamics is contained only in the subtraction constant. We express this constant, in the leading order in (m_e/\Lambda)^2 perturbative series, in terms of the inverse moment of the pion transition form factor given in symmetric kinematics. By using the CELLO and CLEO data on the pion transition form factor given in asymmetric kinematics the lower bound on the decay branching ratio is found. The restrictions following from QCD allow us to make a quantitative prediction for the branching B(pi0 -> e+e-) =(6.2\pm 0.1)*10^{-8} which is 3\sigma below the recent KTeV measurement. We confirm our prediction by using the quark models and phenomenological approaches based on the vector meson dominance. The decays \eta -> l^+l^- are also discussed.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figur

The leading-twist pion and kaon distribution amplitudes from the QCD instanton vacuum

We investigate the leading-twist light-cone distribution amplitudes for the pion and kaon, based on the nonlocal chiral quark model from the instanton vacuum. Effects of explicit flavor SU(3)-symmetry breaking are taken into account. The Gegenbauer moments are computed, analyzed and compared with those of other models. The one-loop QCD evolution of the moments is briefly discussed. The transverse momentum distributions are also discussed for the pion and kaon light-cone wave functions.Comment: 17 pages, 12 figures.
